“I have an amendment at the desk. The Acting CHAIR. The Clerk will designate the amendment. The text of the amendment is as follows: In title X, strike section 1064 and insert the following: SEC. 1064. FINDINGS ON DEPLOYMENT OF TACTICAL NUCLEAR FORCES IN THE WESTERN PACIFIC REGION. Congress finds the following: (1) The United States and allied forces are currently capable of responding to aggression by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (``North Korea''). (2) The deployment of tactical nuclear weapons to the Republic of Korea (``South Korea'') would destabilize the areas of responsibility of the United States Pacific Command and United States Forces Korea. (3) Such deployment would not be in the national security interests of the United States. The Acting CHAIR. Pursuant to House Resolution 661, the gentleman from Georgia (Mr. Johnson) and a Member opposed each will control 5 minutes. The Chair recognizes the gentleman from Georgia.”
