I thank the ranking member for yielding. I rise in strong support of this bill, which will keep people working in building our infrastructure. Failure to pass this bill would put politics first and would mean unnecessary economic pain for millions of Americans. We've seen in the past that stop signs and guardrails have been put out, that traffic jams have been started, and now we want to blame the drivers of the car for the traffic jam that the other side commenced. It doesn't make any sense. Let's go ahead and pass this bill today. I commend my brother on the other side of the aisle for putting it forward--a clean bill. In Georgia, the highway bill provides more than $97 million a month for infrastructure jobs, employing more than 22,500 Georgians. I urge my colleagues to support this bill so we can move past this stalemate and pass a long-term bill.
