David Perdue is a Republican politician from Georgia who served as a United States Senator from 2015 to 2021. He was elected to the Senate after defeating incumbent Democrat Michelle Nunn in the 2014 election. During his time in office, Perdue focused on issues such as economic growth, job creation, and reducing government spending. He was a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee.
I echo what Senator Menendez just said about Venezuela. We buy $32 billion of oil a year. We have not affected their regime one iota, that I can see.
We have evidence, though, cause and effect of several other countries, Britain, Canada, others, having open trading relations with Cuba.
Cuba has increased the number of politically motivated arrests by 70 percent.
Just since President Obama started these secret negotiations with the Castro regime, since June 2013, there have been reportedly 15,000 political arrests.

I take offense about that. I think this is our irresponsibility over the last really 30 years... we have kicked this ball down the court.
I think the first goal here, in my opinion, is to make sure that we can live up to the obligations that we have right now.
I can assure you that I care very much about each one of those, but I also care about what happens past 2033.
