How can we sit here today--are we serious?--and say, regardless of the physical, emotional, and psychological trauma, the women and girls who survive these vicious attacks, that does not matter?

I am proud to have partnered with Chairman Thompson on the FEMA Equity Act to address these flaws in our Federal emergency management system.

More needs to be done for underserved communities, especially since we keep seeing the pattern of people left without the assistance they need.

But we`ve got to come together, as I said, at the local and state level. We`ve got to join the federal partners, and deal with this issue, particularly in the state of Florida.
