The United States certainly through the expression of its legislative branch is not going to be intimidated or threatened or manipulated into a relationship or non-relationship with Taiwan that is not in our interest.

That shows somebody that is strong on freedom and liberty, and will sacrifice whatever it takes to have that for her country and I admire that.
But this is not a new issue. This is something that is--you know, we have looked at this and as I hear all the testimoneys, we look at our foreign policy, we can look back 20, 30, 40 years and those policies go to good governance…
I look forward to this hearing--from hearing from each of you in how the United States can better save this population and hold the government of Myanmar accountable for its abuses.
