I would like to thank the gentleman from South Carolina for yielding me this time. Mr. Speaker, just think about this. Three days ago, Saturday, President Obama said: ``It would be inexcusable for Congress not to further extend this middle class tax cut for the rest of the year.'' The same day, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said: ``House Democrats will return to Washington to take up this legislation without delay, and we will keep up the fight to extend these provisions for a full year.'' And on Saturday, Minority Whip Hoyer said he was disappointed that the Senate would not agree to a longer-term extension. Mr. Speaker, what the Senate has done--and we've heard this term so many times before--it's about business as usual. Let's not make a decision we can put off for another 2 months. This House, in a bipartisan way last week, came up with a 1-year extension and a 2-year doc fix extension that will help those individuals provide medical services to our seniors, that gives them a sustainable way to look forward on our docs and a doc fix for 2 years, not 2 months. When you hear from other individuals in the real world, those that have to implement a policy that was designed by those in the Senate for 2 months, think about it. When you have to report that tax to the Federal Government, it's quarterly, not 2 months. How are they supposed to do that? How do you reconcile that difference? Once again, the Senate refused to take action that the House did.…
