I think that we are getting to the point where we are beginning to understand here that the truth is what matters; the truth of what actually happens is what is important. I guess I could find some instances where people have been savaged in print and saved by TV. I do not know how many instances there are, but I suspect that Ollie North might think that he was such a person, and probably many other people would think that. It is very hard to explain away nervousness for people who speak before cameras. Some people are more accustomed to it than others. Some people take it more naturally than others. But the fact is nervousness as you are speaking tends to evoke sympathy. People viewing would say, gee, if there is a problem there, it is understood. If it is so egregious, there is a way for the committee to deal with that.
