We are suddenly, as a nation, dangerously dependent – dangerously dependent – on other nations for all sorts of things that we need, not simply for our economic vibrancy but, in many cases, for our national security and our very survival…

In the long term, the future of Venezuela is to have a democratically elected- elected government, in a republic where the country’s leaders are directly accountable to the laws of the country and to the voters of that country.

We remain very committed to that prospect, and ultimately that is where this project needs to wind up.
