Democratic elections are more than just about having an election because you could have an election tomorrow; we’d still be using the Chávez machines and the Chávez electoral committee, and it would not be credible.

We are involved in this endeavor across the board to try to reverse those mistakes.

We are suddenly, as a nation, dangerously dependent – dangerously dependent – on other nations for all sorts of things that we need, not simply for our economic vibrancy but, in many cases, for our national security and our very survival…

I think they’re much better off partnering with the United States. They will benefit greatly from it.
