In closing, we really have to look at what is happening right now. I know we are doing all that we can do. We have filed legislation. We were able to stop the privatization of Social Security by having over 500 town hall meetings throughout the country. The President burned all kinds of Federal jet fuel flying around the country trying to convince people that they need to privatize their Social Security. That was very, very unfortunate. Taxpayers' money was spent. Still the plan was abandoned. We also pushed very hard to make sure that we pay as we go here on the floor. We are still fighting on that as it relates to our Federal spending. You talk about the tax and spend and whatever the case may be. I can tell you that Republicans can't look in the mirror here in the House, the majority can't look in the mirror and say that they are the example of fiscal responsibility because I think the history of this country will show and this 109th Congress, and even the Congress before that, that there has been more spending now than any other time in the history of this country, especially when you look at what happened during the Lyndon Johnson years versus the Bush years. Because right now you are seeing with the rubber-stamp Congress and President Bush that the Lyndon Johnson administration and the Congress at that time has been dethroned as it relates to spending. {time} 1900 So I think it is very important that we look at that.…
