And, Mr. Speaker, that is the reason why we are here. It is not about winning or losing under the Capitol dome. It is about the American people being able to win and keep confidence within this body. And I will tell my colleagues now, looking at the recent poll numbers, they do not feel good about what is happening here in Congress. There was an article on Friday, and it was in The Washington Post: ``GOP Sounded the Alarm but didn't Respond to'' the issue of Social Security. And I would recommend Members take a look at this. It was written by Michael Allen, and I just want to take an excerpt out of this. The gentleman from Ohio (Mr. Ryan) mentioned something about winning, wanting to win. We are here to win on behalf of the American people; and one Republican Member of the other body, not this House but the other body, and I know that Members understand that we have the legislative branch, judicial branch, and executive branch but the legislative branch consists of the House and the Senate. But in the other body I must add that if the Republicans take this to a vote and the Democrats try to stop us, we will end up as the winners. That comes from a Member of the other body that is from South Carolina. Let me just share this with my colleagues. This is not school yard kickball here. This is Social Security, and this is serious business; and this is not about because we can, we will. This is about doing the right thing.…
