“I was really appreciating the dialogue here. I know I am not a veteran myself, being from the State of Florida, I can tell that we have a number of veterans, very patriotic veterans that are very concerned from St. Petersburg to the Panhandle, to Miami, Florida, we have a VA hospital where veterans just need to see the ophthalmologist and it takes 6 months for them to see him. Meanwhile, World War II dedication, remembrance of D-Day, politicians falling all over themselves wearing flags talking about we love you, we love you, trying to get in a photo op with these patriots, even patriots of past wars whether it be Korea, Vietnam, Gulf War I, out there trying to take a picture on these Memorial Days and Veterans Days, but the real issue is this: How do we treat them outside of Veterans Day and Memorial Day? That is the real issue. The real issue is when the rubber meets the road and the reality after each one of those holidays they still have long lines and they still have inadequate and underfunded VA centers.”
