On the recordApril 24, 1997
I was quite shocked about this Swiss experiment, and I have also been a harsh critic of the lax attitude by both our President and this administration on the question of even a casual drug use... this billboard in downtown Zurich says in German, and I will translate it; it says ``Bill Clinton used one marijuana joint, and look, he's not a junkie. What's the big deal?'' And this is the kind of justification and commentary that was used to support this legalization effort in Switzerland... this program again has been such a failure that the Swiss are demanding that it be repealed. But when we have the leader of our administration sending the wrong signals... we have the big problem. So they have tried it, it does not work. Their countrymen are asking for this to be, for this program to be repealed, and we see a bad example that should not be repeated in this country.
