The green card is a wonderful way of being here. The only difference between the green card and citizenship is the right to vote.

I wonder what this hearing would be like if we were like Canadians, desperately seeking people to come to our country because we simply have no one who wants to be there.
We have got a big problem here, and I think we all agree that our immigration system is broken.
We must do at least three things: further strengthen border security; streamline the legal immigration process; and create a path to citizenship.
Look, I think that the issue here is that we have mistaken--and the folks on the other side might be missing--is that this is no paradise, that people work awfully hard on the American dream, and all they want is an opportunity.
I think we make a mistake here if we engage in this debate and think that there is some paradise.
A pathway to citizenship doesn't mean that we are going to sign these guys up to be citizens.
