August 22 is to be the last date of their availability for this very needed benefit. Now with this bipartisan amendment which is included in this bill, these poor, sick, elderly, law-abiding, legal U.S. residents will get an extension of this assistance. Through the leadership of the Republican Senator of New York, Al D'Amato, the Senate passed this SSI extension last week with an overwhelming vote of 89 in favor and only 11 against.”
