Tuberculosis is the leading killer among people infected with HIV/AIDS, and both remain public health concerns that we must continue to address. This year, in conjunction with the Miami-Dade County Health Department, the Florida Department of Health, the South Florida American Lung Association, and the Global Health Council and many other public health organizations, I am promoting a forum entitled ``When HIV and TB Collide: A World TB Day Event.'' This conference will explore how unique partnerships between government, faith-based groups, and community-based organizations can together help combat the deadly combination between HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis that threatens the health and well-being of our communities.
