This amendment guarantees our veterans will have the right to express their views on issues affecting them. The Constitution grants Americans the right to criticize or praise their elected officials, and we should not punish the very individuals who put their lives on the line to protect our freedom and way of life by depriving them, as this bill would probably do, of their voice in our political process. As a 4-year veteran myself, I urge my colleagues to support this important amendment. We will never be able to properly thank those veterans who gave up so much for our Nation, but we can honor them. We can honor them by passing this amendment. Vote for the Armey- Johnson amendment.
