The challenge before us today is: Can we keep it? Because a republic is a Nation that is guided by the rule of law. Not the whims of a dictator or a majority that can trample on the rights of a minority, but the rule of law. I urge my colleagues to vote in support of this resolution. I, like everyone in this chamber, would like to get this process behind us. The best way to do that is to support this resolution. It is the right thing to do, it is the right way for us to keep the republic, as Franklin asked us to do.
