Yes, it has. The City has brought together and obtained the support of Alachua County, the St. Johns Water Management District, and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection for the purpose of providing a solution to this problem. The City of Gainesville is to be commended for bringing together so many various interests and impact parties to address this problem. This City needs help. They have devised a preliminary plan with a relatively low cost which could ameliorate and potentially resolve the situation, but because the project is beyond the scope of the City's jurisdiction, it seems to fall between the cracks of any one federal program at this time.
