“But I want to remind my colleagues that this is America. This is the United States of America. There is something special about that. Remember, 59 years ago today, Pearl Harbor was attacked. The Nation did not have any real direction. We were an emerging industrial Nation. But, then Pearl Harbor was attacked. Americans came together with such a powerful statement, such a profound statement, and put together one of the most fantastic military capabilities in the world eventually. It took a while, but we came together. We overcame all kinds of differences, different opinions, different challenges, different industrial challenges, different political challenges. We came together as a strong and powerful Nation. Ever since that day, we have been an outstanding example for the rest of the world of freedom, of justice, of the ability to work together in the best interest of the people of the United States and for those in the world that we are called upon to help.”
