“Again, I want to say this is just a great example of how our government and those of us who represent our respective constituents, can work without political involvements or political influence, and can work together for the best interests of our country. And the underlying bill, is a really great bill for military construction and to provide for quality-of-life for the men and women who serve in our military, and they deserve so much more than they get. And this Congress is going to continue to keep trying to get more for them and let them know how much we appreciate the sacrifices that they make. The gentleman from Michigan (Chairman Knollenberg) as chairman of this subcommittee, and the gentleman from Texas (Mr. Edwards), as the ranking member have done an outstanding job. The gentleman from California (Mr. Lewis) as chairman of the Defense Subcommittee of the Committee on Appropriations, and the gentleman from Pennsylvania (Mr. Murtha), ranking minority, have also done a tremendous job for our military forces. And I want to thank everybody in this House for helping us move this hurricane disaster emergency supplemental.”
