Bill Nelson is an American politician and attorney who served as a United States Senator from Florida from 2001 to 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously represented Florida's 9th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1993 to 2001. Nelson also held the position of Florida's Insurance Commissioner from 1995 to 1999, where he focused on consumer protection and insurance reform.
Do you think that we need to take the steps needed to make sure that the system is all of those things?
I want to compliment General Ward and Admiral Stavridis as you are adapting to this new policy where you're not only a warrior, you're also a diplomat.
The bottom line question is: Is it operationally effective so that in fact if we had the threat it could do the job?
What are you doing in coordination with the MDA and Strategic Command to realistically test the GMD?
We're developing a national missile defense system. Do you think that the system needs to be operationally effective, suitable, survival, and cost-effective?
Now, if you're talking about the layer, such as Aegis, the answer to that is yes.
If you can't do it in the private sector, the Federal Government certainly shouldn't be able to do it.
