On the recordMay 8, 2006
I understand that is the position of the majority. We will continue to fight this out over the course of this week. This is ``doing right'' by our seniors. As the Good Book says: Come and let us reason together. I am offering an extension for the entire year. We ought to have some coming together, to reason together, on some kind of extension, even if it is not for the remaining 6 months of the year in which we can help out our senior citizens. I will continue to press this in the course of this week's debate. I will continue throughout, as I have just indicated, to bring up this matter. I will continue to ask unanimous consent from the Senate that this matter be brought to the Senate because of the emergency nature of meeting the deadline a week from today, May 15, to help out our senior citizens. I yield the floor. The PRESIDING OFFICER. The Senator from Iowa.
