“I think the point just made by the Senator from West Virginia and the Senator from South Carolina is most important. With this misinformation about the budget, isn't it curious that it comes at a time when we are discussing the Defense appropriations bill? There is not one penny in this bill, as pointed out by the Senator from West Virginia, for the war in Iraq. Just in Iraq, the war is costing $1 billion a week--$4 billion a month. That doesn't include all of the other necessary military expenditures, such as in Afghanistan and in Bosnia. Yet we are considering a Defense appropriations bill that does not have any money in here for the war in Iraq.”
