Mr. President, I come to the floor for the purpose of making a unanimous consent request with regard to Zika. I ask unanimous consent that the Senate proceed to the consideration of H.R. 5243, which is at the desk; that all after the enacting clause be stricken; that the substitute amendment, which is the text of the Blunt-Murray amendment to provide $1.1 billion of funding for Zika, be agreed to; that there be up to 1 hour of debate equally divided between the two leaders or their designees; that upon the use or yielding back of time, the bill, as amended, be read a third time and the Senate vote on passage of the bill, as amended, with no intervening action or debate. The PRESIDING OFFICER. Is there objection? Unanimous Consent Request--Conference Report to Accompany H.R. 2577 Mr. McCONNELL. Mr. President, reserving the right to object, let me just walk through this one more time in case anybody is confused about where we are. As I said yesterday, Republican Senators are eager to pass the conference report which is before us and send it to the President's desk for signature. We should do that today--this very day. That would accomplish several important things before we leave for the week. First, it would provide $1.1 billion in immediate funding to combat Zika. That is the exact amount of money in the Democrats' request. However, the Democrats' request includes only funding for Zika and leaves the rest of the important priorities behind.…
