I share her belief that we need tax cuts. But if we can keep this economic expansion going for another 5 years, first that will do far more for everybody's pocketbook than any tax cut. But second, we will then be able to talk about more tax cuts. If we screw it up, if we adopt tax cuts that force interest rates up because we are fiscally irresponsible, then, first, people will suffer far more from an economic downturn and, second, we will be back here dealing with deficits.
