I think it's quite clear that he can't pardon himself. The words and the constitution require that you can grant pardons as president, and it's nonsensical to think you can grant something to yourself.

It’s just as one more, you know, kind of horrible thing that Donald Trump did which is put this guy in who wasn’t you know who could maybe clean up oil spills at best and make him the top law enforcement officer of the entire United States.
