Tomorrow the United States will impose sanctions on Russia for this clear violation of international law and Ukraine`s sovereignty and territorial integrity. We can, will, and must stand united in our calls for Russia to withdraw its forces, return to the diplomatic table, and work toward peace.

We`re not going to let Russia get away with lying to the world or staining the integrity of the Security Council by using this forum as a venue for legitimizing Putin`s violence.
But we have used the Security Council, we have used the General Assembly to isolate Russia, to condemn Russia, to kick Russia off of the Human Rights Council.
So, now, let me be clear, the United States will never recognize any territory Russia attempts to seize or allegedly annex, as anything other than parts of Ukraine. We reject Russia's actions unequivocally.
