CFTC performs vital functions and it is critical that all of its mandates are preserved, even as the demands on our regulatory agencies expand. A merger makes sense only if it enhances our ability to carry out the important task with which the CFTC is entrusted. Thus, I would not consider a merger simply for merger's sake.
