Slowing down and pausing to see what the consequences are, even if they are unintended consequences, is important to do.
As you know, coming from a provider background, I strongly believe people deserve to get paid when they deliver a service, and we have failed many of our providers in terms of that.
This is a tough job for anybody to do. What the successful secretary needs to do is to build a team around them because this is bigger than any one person, and to work very collaboratively with veteran service organizations and Congress.
I am confident that we made the right decision here, that Congress has been asking us, for now 18 years, to find a way to get our systems to work together with the Department of Defense.
