Last week, I agreed to meet Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov this week on February 24th, to discuss our country`s respective concerns about European security, but only if Russia did not invade Ukraine. Now that we see the invasion is beginning and Russia has made clear its wholesale rejection of diplomacy. It does not make sense to go forward with that meeting at this time.

I agree wholeheartedly with the short litany of items that you listed in terms of what China is doing to try to pursue its military, economic, diplomatic, preeminence or dominance in the world and across the board.
We are working to do that. Obviously, in the countries that have been on the receiving end of coups, there are some limits that we have to abide by.
The response we got was unfortunately not the yes that we were looking for. A yes that virtually the entire world has given.
