I think she was taken aback to a degree with the calmness that the head of the Coast Guard Academy responded by simply accepting the responsibility, no matter what the decisions of the yachtsmen or others that are out there that have put American Coast Guard personnel at risk, they are ready to take that responsibility. We in this Congress have put tremendous burdens on them with drug fighting, with controlling the flow of ships. A country cannot go to war when necessary without the Coast Guard operating in the ports of our Nation. We need to make sure we do more than just commend them.
