I can tell you that--perhaps this is saying the obvious--if the reorganization authority had been enacted already and the fast-track process was law, any presidential proposal--let us take this one--would be taken with a greater degree of seriousness.

I hope you Members of the Committee in this session will similarly rise to the challenge of this moment and this problem and work together to get something good and great done for our country.
We got into this because our members about a year-and-a-half ago said to us, oh, my God, another Trump-Biden match. It's not good for the country. It offers no hope of bringing bipartisanship back to Washington regardless of who wins.
I appreciate the leadership that the Committee is showing, because this really is a threat to our country.
You may choose to look the other way, but you can never again say you did not know.
