“I rise today to say a few words about Nancy N. Campbell, who will be honored in my home State of Connecticut for her outstanding contributions to historic preservation. On May 26 at the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford, Nancy Campbell will receive the Harlan H. Griswold Award, the highest tribute which can be given in Connecticut for work in support of the cause of historic preservation. Ms. Campbell is being honored for her leadership in local and State preservation in Connecticut and for her effectiveness in promoting preservation at the highest levels of national awareness. As a resident of Middletown, CT, Ms. Campbell helped found the Greater Middletown Preservation Trust and served as a member of the Landmarks Advisory Board of Wesleyan University. She joined the board of the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation, where she served a term as chairman. For 6 years, she served as a member of the Connecticut Historical Commission. She continued in her commitment to preservation activities after establishing a second home in New York, where she now serves as vice chairman of the Preservation League of New York.”
