I support the amendment on executive compensation. I believe it addresses this matter in a manner that President Bush 41 might have called prudent. I urge it be adopted by a voice vote. I applaud the Chairman for bringing this issue. I think it is something that we should be talking about.
We got into this because our members about a year-and-a-half ago said to us, oh, my God, another Trump-Biden match. It's not good for the country. It offers no hope of bringing bipartisanship back to Washington regardless of who wins.
Taxation without representation became the rallying cry that led to our Declaration of Independence and a war to achieve it.
I hope that the spirit of bipartisanship... will guide your Committee's consideration of the deprivation of voting representation in Congress for citizens of our Capital City.
