I would like to add to my distinguished colleague from Connecticut's remarks. While our troops deserve nothing less than the best equipment, it is also essential that we maintain the ability to domestically produce this type of advanced technology. I am convinced that failure to support MP-RTIPs continued advancement would result in a devastating loss to our domestic industrial base, essential for producing this type of crucial radar technology. Additionally, it would seem as though we had wasted the $1 billion already invested in this vital program. Now is not the time to forgo dominance in the realm of battlefield surveillance and management--and that is precisely what would happen if we ended domestic production of this vital system.
