This was a long time in putting together a comprehensive, complicated piece of legislation dealing with financial reform. There are many people who deserve credit for the product of this legislation, not the least of which is Senator Merkley of Oregon, a new Member to this body but a very active and vibrant member of the Banking Committee who added substantially to the product that is now before us.
