This resolution is a chance for this body to end the war. And so we are pleading once again, maybe the 10th time that we've had a resolution like this, for our colleagues to join us.

DHS is also required to follow the ‘Detained Parents Directive’ (DPD), even in its weakened state, to ensure that parents are not unconstitutionally deprived of their child.

We shouldn't wait for their permission. We need to do this in the next 12 months. And so, while I would like them at the table, the last thing we should do is give them veto power.

Families should be able to trust that when they send their kids to school, they will be in a safe learning environment free from physical abuse.
