I must add an emphasis on quality research that is going to drive program administrators to use scientifically valid measures. And additionally, when information is disclosed to the local community and parents, it is imperative that the reports depend on quality measures. Finally, let me add, we know that Head Start is not alone among early childhood education programs. The Perry Preschool Project and the Abcedarian Project are two that are frequently quoted in scientific literature, and we need room for innovations that follow research, but accompanying any Head Start help must be sound ways of measuring success.
