I appreciate the opportunity to say a few words today in support of my fellow Coloradan, Katherine Archuleta, and her nomination to be Director of the Office of Personnel Management. I have known her for years and have tremendous respect for her. She has given much of her life to public service, and her dedication to her community, her State, and her country is a testament to her character. I am very confident that she will be a steady hand at the helm of OPM. I urge all my colleagues to support her confirmation. Not everyone watching may be familiar with the Office of Personnel Management, but it is an important agency. Let me talk about Colorado in that context. Thousands of Federal employees are in Colorado, including those who are helping to rebuild our State in the wake of September's tragic flooding count on OPM. It is a critical part of the integrity and strength of the entire Federal workforce. It is responsible, among other duties, for employee recruitment and employee retention and for managing Federal benefit and retirement programs. We all expect Federal agencies and departments to function effectively and efficiently for our constituents. As someone who ran a nonprofit in Colorado for 10 years, I know the importance of maintaining a talented and motivated workforce.…
