The Senator from South Carolina is broadly admired in the Senate. If I am ever in court, I want him to be my lawyer. I would point out, however, that what I am proposing wouldn't destroy the system we have in place--a system, by the way, that has resulted in the convictions of numerous terrorists with life sentences. What I am asking is to listen to those who are on the frontlines who are fighting against terrorists and terrorism who have said they have concerns about this new proposal and would like a greater amount of time to vet it and consider it.
