I think that the work that this committee did last year in pushing forward for what became, what I considered to be the American Great Outdoors Act of 2009 was known here in some quarters as the Omnibus Land Bill, was a wonderful effort on behalf of conservation for America.

We need someone in the White House to oversee the border, migration, Mexico, and the Americas. No one is in charge now. We need a border and migration czar.
They have to be dismantled. We have to do this work together with the Mexican government.
We have seen that national security and environmental conservation are mutually supporting goals.
From day one, there should have been a great sense of urgency in addressing the crisis of a broken border and the migration crisis that we are seeing.
