Mr. President, in the West and across America, national parks and public lands are our pride and joy. They are also a huge part of our economy. Colorado's public lands power a $17 billion outdoor recreation economy, which employs more than 132,000 Coloradans. Recently, the Trump administration has taken aim at our national parks and other public lands. They illegally fired thousands of people who are responsible for wildland mitigation, for habitat conservation, and outdoor recreation management, among other things. Some Republicans are adding fuel to the fire by pushing to sell off public lands to pay for these tax cuts for the ultrawealthy. The tax handouts for the wealthy are so large and so important that some are willing to plunder our public lands. So let's be clear. Our public lands are not for sale. Senator Heinrich and I have introduced a simple amendment--a ``yes'' or ``no'' vote--to prevent this reckless fire sale of our campgrounds, our forests, and our national treasurers. How could one vote against that? I yield the floor. The PRESIDING OFFICER. The Senator from Utah.
