“I rise before you with both humility and gratitude to honor the fallen law enforcement officers from the Pikes Peak Region on Peace Officers Memorial Day, which falls on May 15. I ask all of us to pause and remember the incredible courage these men and women demonstrated in service to others. They wore the badge with honor. They answered the call without hesitation, and they made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the communities they loved. I also want to recognize the families and the loved ones left behind. To the spouses, children, parents, and friends: Your sacrifice did not end on the day we lost them. I want them to know that their service, their character and legacy live on in this community and in the hearts of those who served beside them. To our brothers and sisters in blue who continue to serve every day, I know they carry the memory of these fallen heroes with them on every single shift. Mr. Speaker, join me in remembering the fallen and honoring their families.”
