Many American workers don't have access to paid sick days, which means they can't miss work without losing a day's pay or risking their job security. If we defeat the previous question, I will offer an amendment to the rule to bring up legislation that would allow workers to earn paid sick leave. Mr. Speaker, everyone should be able to take care of themselves or their loved ones when they are sick and not have to worry about losing their jobs or falling behind on their bills because of illness. Mr. Speaker, I ask unanimous consent to insert the text of the amendment in the Record, along with extraneous material, immediately prior to the vote on the previous question. The SPEAKER.
