I want to focus for just a minute on something very near and dear to my heart, job creation. I have been in the private sector all my life and only a brief while in this distinguished body as a Member of Congress. So my mind and perhaps a good share of my heart is still back home with the folks that actually are creating jobs and doing the work around this country. In fact, just this afternoon I had an electric contractor, electrician, in my office and he was lamenting with me the state of things back home, that he is actually for the first time in many years faced with laying people off, with eliminating jobs. And that is a tragedy because these people that work for him, he is a small business owner again, they become more than just employees, they become friends; and he knows that laying them off, especially in times like this, is a bad situation and it becomes a very personal situation. So I think a concept that has tragically been lost in a great deal of this dialogue is the one of job creation and something that we really ought to be committed to.
