I think that what the FDIC is hearing today is our dissatisfaction with the way that they are disposing of these assets in one or two or three different ways.
Many of the major banks have been using patented business methods without permission of the patent owners or payment to them.
This section created an additional review process for financial services related business method patents.
We have a moral responsibility to deal with these issues, and we have a moral responsibility to provide that leadership.
I would like to believe, and I must believe, that we are all interested in an SEC that can perform the task and the mission that it is charged with.
I hope that we can productively explore these topics, but I also hope that we can recognize attempts to weaken or undermine the SEC, by either underfunding it, or imposing upon it much more onerous cost-benefit rules.
I believe that OFR will serve as a vital role in supplying our regulators with critical data and analysis that will help them monitor systemic risk and ensure that our financial markets are sound.
