On the recordSeptember 25, 1996
last Saturday my alma mater, the Arizona State Sun Devils, took on the No. 1 ranked, two-time defending national champion cornhuskers of Nebraska. The result should be a lesson to all the pundits who have already written off Bob Dole. The pundits and so-called experts said A.S.U. had no chance against Nebraska. They pointed out that Nebraska had a 37 game winning streak, and that Nebraska had not been shut out in a regular season game since 1973. The point spread, looking a lot like some of the recent presidential polls, predicted that Nebraska would win by 23 points. Yet Arizona State managed to shut out Nebraska 19-0. The experts said Arizona State could not beat Nebraska, but the experts were wrong. The experts also tell us that Bob Dole and Jack Kemp do not have a chance to beat a certain liberal currently living in the White House. We Sun Devils know better.
