“We come together to honor the victims of the horrific terrorist attacks in Paris and to condemn these barbaric acts. These attacks claimed the lives of 129 innocent people and wounded more than 350 others. Our hearts ache for the victims and their families. Today, our resolve to punish the perpetrators and destroy the Islamic State and other terrorists is only stronger. We stand in solidarity with the French people. Together we will defeat terrorism around the world and here in the U.S. The Islamic State is one of the world's most violent and dangerous terrorist groups. I also included language in the Intelligence Authorization Act directing the Intelligence Community to dedicate the necessary resources to defeat the Islamic State's revenue mechanisms. The attacks in Paris underscore the urgency with which we must pursue the defeat of ISIL.
