“I will be voting against the Grassley amendment. I compliment the chairman of the Judiciary Committee and the chairman of the Finance Committee, Senator Grassley, and his staff, for working hard at producing what is a big step forward in ensuring that we can determine the eligibility of workers to be hired. Unfortunately, it doesn't complete the job. That is such a critical component of this legislation that I cannot support it until additional changes are made. My vote is not intended to be pejorative in any way toward those who worked very hard to put this together, and many of my ideas are in that amendment. I appreciate their effort. But there is still a long way to go, and, in some respects, this is a metaphor for a lot of this bill. There has been a lot of progress made, but there is a long way to go. The PRESIDING OFFICER.
